Allow me to introduce myself:

According to the Wu Tang Name Generator:

But I also

But I also

go by other names.

If you know your Greek gods, you'll know these last few images have been of Artemis, goddess of the hunt.

I have not always taken her name, though.

I have not always taken her name, though.

Guess who?

It's her...

Athena, goddess of wisdom and war.

Who inspired the transition, then? Who turned Athena into Artemis?

But this was not enough for the name to change.

At first, it was Artemis from Percy Jackson. Even though I had read the myths themselves, I took inspiration from the bonds Percy Jackon's Artemis had with her huntresses. I loved the kinship they had from swearing off all lovers.

But this was not enough for the name to change.

No, for that to happen it would take someone else, someone like ... her.

That was an image of Art3mis, the video game character belonging to Samantha Cook in the Ready Player One universe.

I've never seen the movie, but the character, with all her self-assured confidence, was enough for 5th grade me to make the switch.

Athena was gone. In her place, Artemis (or, more accurately, Art3mis) arose.

So that is the story of my name. Artemis, or now more accurately Artemis the Dreamer (because Google asks you for a last name whenever creating an account), has become my moniker for any non-legal internet purpose. Maybe you'll find me on that great World Wide Web, someday or another. For now, return to your daily duties--but next time you see a Greek statue, take a moment. Maybe you will take inspiration, too.

Goodbye.

Goodbye.

For now...
